Letters To Yourself

Okay, let’s try writing some more! This one is a little more in-depth, but I think everyone should do this once in their life. Go get some really nice stationery or card, with an envelope. Now, sit down somewhere quiet where you can relax.

Start it off by addressing it to yourself. For example, I will start mine as, “Dear Alyssa,”. I want you to write a letter to your younger self. Tell your younger self all the things you have learned so far. Tell yourself all the things you’d be proud of when you grow up. Tell yourself all the things that you thought were things to worry about, really don’t matter much in the grand scheme of things. Tell yourself to relax. Tell yourself all the things you always dreamed of doing, things you’ve already done, and things you still want to do.

Write a letter as long as you want it to be-it can be one page long, or ten. Then, I want you to seal it up in an envelope, put a stamp on it, and send it to yourself. One day, when you’re feeling scared or sad, read it. Then, I want you to put it in a box, or somewhere safe, and keep it. Years down the road, pull it out and read it again. Or, write another one. The first time I did this, it was so hard to write it, but even harder to read it. I cried. But, they were happy tears. It made me realize that I had accomplished more than I ever realized.

If you feel like sharing your letters, you can e-mail me at: letsallbefriends1@gmail.com

I look forward to hearing from you!

Xoxo,

Aly
